the ultimate guide
to planning your wedding
Have you started planning your wedding day? Don't worry, we understand the long list of jobs can feel overwhelming. Our Wedding Executives have put together the ultimate step by step checklist to help you simplify the whole wedding planning process...
#2 - LET'S TALK ABOUT MONEY
Not a subject everyone enjoys talking about however, this is a must before you start looking at anything else so you both understand what you can afford and how much you can save. If you start the process with a better understanding of your budget, you’ll remove the risk of disappointment later when your “dream wedding” becomes achievable. Important questions include:
What do your outgoings vs income look like? | Can you cut back?
What can you save on average per month? | Are your parents going to help?
#3 - CREATE A MOOD BOARD
Before you go looking at venues, you need to make sure you’re both on the same page when it comes to themes, colour scheme, size and what your “Dream Wedding” looks like.
There is nothing to stop you keeping it simple and writing a list however, if you want some wedding inspiration, it’s time to create a Pinterest moon board! Pinterest is a wonderful space to source ideas and make your dreams a reality.
Top Tip – Create a board for each aspect of your wedding, this will help when it comes to organising your day with your suppliers.
#4 - BEST GRAB YOUR DIARY
The first question you’re likely to be asked by a venue or supplier is “Do you have a date in mind?” and there is a very important reason for this. All venue’s and suppliers want to provide you the wedding day of your dreams however, if you have a single date in mind this might not be possible.
Are you ready to be flexible on your date if your dream venue isn’t available or a specific supplier is already fully booked?
#5 - DON'T RUIN YOUR MAILBOX
Once you’ve enquired to a number of different venues to check date availability, reached out to a few suppliers to see if they’re able to assist creating your dream and attend a wedding fair for inspiration, be prepared for an influx of email communications which will take over your personal mailbox.
The easiest way to keep organised and save your personal emails from receiving wedding related emails after your big day is to create a wedding specific email!
Use an email provider such as gmail.com or outlook.com to setup a free new account which you can jointly use to coordinate your big day while saving your personal inboxes and preventing miss-communication
#6 - START YOUR SEARCH
Would you like a cozy winter or a warm summer wedding? Are you having a large wedding with all your family and friends or a small intimate get together with just those you hold closest? These are all important factors when searching for your perfect venue… a few simple things can make the decision a little easier:
Don’t rely on brochures or websites - Make sure you book a personal show round because no website or brochure will ever enable you to truly imagine your big day in a venue.
Take pictures - They say a picture can speak a thousand words; If you’ve got decorations you can’t imagine your wedding without or see a space you’d love to use for your wedding photos, use your show round as the perfect opportunity to photo these areas of importance as this will help when it comes to planning in more detail.
There is no such thing as a silly question – If you have a question, ask! Your wedding executive will have been asked countless “Silly” questions that have made couples days in the past and it’s better to get the full picture now instead of being disappointed in the future.
#7 - PICK A VENUE
It would be awful to fall in love with a venue to find out that it's already fully booked so make sure to ask about provisionally holding a date.
Most venues will happily provisionally hold any available date for you for up to 10 days (we do)
This then gives you the time to contact other suppliers and complete the next step
